Fluorescent, black and white, colors too saturated, or a burr in the colors at startup… These color problems are really unpleasant for your viewer experience. The SCART cable is the cable that allows an audio and video connection between your decoder and your television. When it is loose or damaged, the quality of the audio or video on your television may drop dramatically. Unplug it, clean its inputs and outputs, and reconnect it.
When you connect the new cable, be careful to turn off the TV and the decoder to avoid handling problems. It sometimes happens that after a power failure, your TV settings will change without your knowledge.
It also happens that a child takes your remote control and plays with it before turning off the television. In both cases, your television may suddenly appear in black and white, or on the contrary, with saturated colors.
Do not panic! Go to the saturation gauge. It is not necessary to adjust these gauges if your television had the colors saturated. If your capacitors work badly when cold, at start-up then, you have to change them. Capacitors are electrical components essential to the start-up of an electronic object.
Be careful, if you do not feel comfortable with the following procedure, bring yourself closer to an expert who will help you for a reasonable price. Indeed, this procedure is highly risky as you may get electrocuted. When you see them, have a pair of pliers, and separate them from the TV.
Wait a few minutes for the capacitors to cool down. However, if you encounter any difficulty, do not hesitate to ask for help from a friend. Or ask for help from a professional who will guide you step by step to do so. More about?

Press "OK" on the remote control or press the "Input" button on the side of the television to select the "Reset" option. You will have to press either of these buttons again to confirm your intent to reset. Wait while the television resets to the factory settings. The screen will change colour a few times and eventually return to the standard "On" mode.

I got this tv as a gift from my cousin- a hand-me-down of the best kind. However, it came sans remote.
This hasn't been a problem, because I just use my cable box's remote to operate power, sound, et cetera. However, somehow the channels on the TV itself got screwed up and instead of being on channel 4 the input for the cable box it's ended up on channel The cable remote can't change it- when I try to, it turns the cable box on and tries to change the channel there. The 'Video Source' button on the remote also does nothing. I cannot use the side button panel because when I press anything except 'Power' it brings up a big 'Key Lock' image on the TV screen.
Preliminary Googling suggests this can't be fixed with a universal remote and I must buy a remote from the manufacturer to get this fixed. Is that true? Are there any alternate solutions? Many cable box remotes these days are universal Comcast's are for example if yours is you might be able to dig up the correct code on your cable provider's website For example here's Comcast's posted by bitdamaged at AM on September 27, Shoot didn't read that last part about universals - too trying to be helpful.
Anyway if your remote is universal it might be worth a shot.
Oy vey. Tried Cablevision's remote programming and now I can't turn my TV on and off via the remote like I used to. Digging a deeper hole Okay, one of the codes 'worked' and I can control the TV's power and volume like I could before, but trying to use the channel up and down buttons only changes the channel on the cable box, not the TV itself.
This mode would be enabled by default for obvious reasons, but it can probably be turned off, allowing the channel buttons to control the TV when the remote is in TV mode. The trick is finding the sequence of buttons that will do this But that's my Comcast experience talking. Plan B. I think this is what is occuring also. At least with the changing channels bit. But if you are using a cable box why is this a problem? Just use the input function.
I wonder if you can do a hard reset somehow of the tv, which would theoretically return everythig to default. Also, here's a thread at Remote Central that discusses the process of getting a computer programmable universal remote up and running.

Is there maybe something wrong with the TV where the cables go in on the back of the TV? Our TV signal has been intermittent in the last week, high pressure gets the blame, but at 8pm last night it went off with no signal, tried to reset this and no channels!
We get the Stockland transmitter in Swest. There is a booster in the loft, could this have suddenly gone? Now those are not even an option. What can I do? I know the TV is old, and the cable-man told me if every time I have to rest the input, that means that my TV is on the brink.
Is this true? And did my TV finally stop working or is there another fix? Any suggestions welcome. This should make it so when you turn the TV to ON, the image will appear instead of having to change the inputs with the remote control everytime. I have an Insignia TV and a Samsung cablevision box. In the middle of a program, the TV went to no signal. I bought a TV off a friend and trying to get channels on it.

The problem is I have to do this every time I wish to use the tv and it certainly causes frustration. Any ideas as to how to resolve this constant nuisance? I have a wall plate in my bedroom but when I put a cable from the tv into the wall port it says no signal I have a wall plate with three port in my sitting room as I live in an apartment block.
I put my tv on AIR. Hooked up an antenna and scanned the channels. I ended up getting just a few channels is all but was happy with it and it was going good one day. The next it was nothing at all. On my tv. HDMI 1 w 3. What should I have it on.Over time, it may be necessary to reset your Polaroid TV to the factory settings.
Reasons for this may include unsatisfactory custom screen settings such as brightness, contrast, resolution, etc. A reset will restore the software on your television that controls screen settings, cable settings, closed captioning, parental controls, and much more to their original configurations.
Whatever the case, Polaroid has made it simple to reset the settings on your television. Confirm that you want to restore factory settings to your television when prompted to so by pressing the "OK" button your keyboard once again. Wait a few seconds while the settings are restored. Your television may flicker or turn off and on. Press the power button on the television or the remote to turn the device off. Disconnect any peripheral devices such as gaming systems, cable boxes and DVD players.
Unplug the television for at least one hour. This will clear the television's memory and purge anything that may be keeping you from performing a factory reset.
